I am using XP Pro
When I try to login to my computer remotely, I get the message "Unable to log you on because of account restrictions"? I am trying to login to a user who has no password. Is this related? I purposely did not set up a password because I want the computer to boot directly without prompting for login. Is there a way to go around this "account restriction"? Thanks |

Accounts used for remote desktops must have a password. When you enable
remote desktop, a dialog box pops up that clearly states this restriction. Thanks giri -- This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. Yes--the lack of a password is exactly the cause.
You can skin this cat several ways: By default, network access to XP requires a password. You can turn this off. You can set up an autologon without requiring that the user account involved have no password. I'd go with plan B rather than plan A. Turning off the requirement for a password for network access is bad news--don't do it. XP mitigates the risk to some extent, but it still increases your risk. An autologon is a risk as well--you need to assess that risk for yourself. Download TweakUI for XP to set up an autologon. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/...s/powertoys.asp "Philippe" <anonymous@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:149b001c3c385$3cdcdd00$a601280a@phx.gbl... > I am using XP Pro > > When I try to login to my computer remotely, I get the > message "Unable to log you on because of account > restrictions"? > > I am trying to login to a user who has no password.
