Urgent Please help - Remote Desktop Response slow

I have two windows 2003 machines(one desktop, and one laptop) at home to
connect to my XP at work using Remote Desktop. Everything works just great
for the Desktop machine. But for the laptop machine(It's P3 433), there is a
problem. Connecting, and displaying are fine, but it responses to my action
very slow.

For example, if I click my mouse's left button, I need to wait for more than
half of a minute to see the response. When I stop the cursor over a
window's border, it takes more than half of a minute for the cursor changes
from pointer to the Resize Cursor. This make the Remote Desktop unusable.

It would be much appreciated if anybody can help.

BTW, These two machines were configured identically. They all use VPN to
connect to my work place.
