sorry. it's me again. i posted this message a few days ago,
but no-one replied. hopefully not because it's a hopeless case, but because people didn't see it? anyway, if someone could help, i'd be dead happy... thanks in advance HERE GOES: while installing the new messenger version (and for some reason, i can't install older versions either now!), error code 1603 appears. the event viewer tells me that Produkt: MSN Messenger 6.2 -- Fehler 1325. "(Diverses)" ist kein gültiger kurzer Dateiname. (i.e.) "Divers)" is not a valid short file name (i hope that's correct translation. also Event ID: 11325(no idea if this is of any use) Data: 000: 7b 41 42 45 42 38 33 38 {ABEB838 0008: 43 2d 41 31 41 37 2d 34 C-A1A7-4 0010: 43 35 44 2d 42 37 45 31 C5D-B7E1 0018: 2d 38 42 34 33 31 34 36 -8B43146 0020: 30 30 32 30 35 7d 00205} (Bytes) 0000: 4542417b 38333842 31412d43 342d3741 0010: 2d443543 31453742 3442382d 36343133 0020: 30323030 7d35 (Words) This is all I can tell you... thanks in advance for your help G |

Uninstall messenger, remove its folder from Program Files and then DELETE
ALL REGISTRY ENTRIES releated to messenger. If you have AdAware installed, make sure it's not running, also disable you anti-virus. Then do a clean install. i've already tried that, but I didn't disable my antivirus.
that's an important detail, then? thanks - i'll try immediately. >-----Original Message----- >Uninstall messenger, remove its folder from Program Files and then DELETE >ALL REGISTRY ENTRIES releated to messenger. Ok, sorry to hear it did'nt help, the only option I can see, is to ask
someone who has MSN 6.2 installed to send it to you, then just put the folder to you program files directory.
