I use Windows Messenger for video conversations.
I use Win XP SP2 Firewall, and EZ Firewall. Whenever they (the firewalls) are active, the video does not work. When I turn them off, then the video works. How can I configure the firewalls to allow messenger to work with video? |

XP can be configured to allow Messenger. Go to the Control Panel and Open
the Windows Firewall and click the Exceptions and set to ALLOW. As for EZ Firewall, I have no idea how to configure. I've been tryin to work this too. I have winmessenger set
exempt in win firewall, but no video. Turn firewall off, and it works. What port needs to be opened? >-----Original Message----- >XP can be configured to allow Messenger. It's been 12 days and nobody reponds to this thread? Were are the MVP's. I
can't get win messenger to work behind win firewall, even with win mess exempted. I have to turn firewall off. HELP PLEASE! Are there ports to open? I've search and googled with no answers. Imry, Generally speaking, you need to open specific ports for Messenger t work. But I believe Messenger port range can be quite large, so you en up opening up most ports - which defeat the purpose for having firewal in the first place. BTW - I could not even get my VideoConf to work with XP2 and withou firewall - ikema ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted via http://www.mcse.m ----------------------------------------------------------------------- View this thread: http://www.mcse.ms/message1093398.htm |
