Default Messenger Does not Connect on our Network

I'm in Iraq and the network we have here does not allow Messenger to connect. The network does have a hardware firewall. I can probably get the they guys who run the network open the ports it needs if I knew the ports. I don't think if uses a proxy but I'm not sure, and they don't know either. But I would like to what ports messenger may be using to I can get them opened. I know other units in this theater are using messenger. So I am lead to belive it is our firewall. I do not use a personal firewall on my computer.

Thank you,

Default Re: Messenger Does not Connect on our Network

Greetings John,

The only ports necessary for Messenger to connect (for basic functionality) are ports 1863 or
80 and 443, all TCP, all outgoing.

Another solution (or a workaround until you get Messenger resolved) to sign in would be to
use one of the various web-clients to access Messenger, like:
http://www.e-messenger.net
