Default messenger service

I am receiving pop up windows from "Messenger Service" and
it renders my computer helpless for a brief second. I
have tried deleting the openme.exe file, but it is not
there. I don't want to receive these messengers, but they
come anyway. I have blocked pop-ups on my ISP, but when I
connect, these messenges appear on my desktop screen.
Help Please!

Default messenger service

This is stopped by turning off the broadcast message
service, called "Messenger". This will also stop anyone
on your network contacting you by using the Messenger
service, like System Administrators, but if it's just you
at home then all should be OK.

This is done in Win2k and WinXP by opening the Services
screen under Administrative Tools in Control Panel. Older
versions of Windows have the Services screen directly in
the Control Panel.

Once in, just double click on the service
called "Messenger" and set "Startup Type" to "Disabled"
and then click the button marked "STOP".
