Default Voice


Hi just wondered if anyone can help i have msn6.1 on xp
home edition but can not get the voice pc to pc
working.works ok with webcam that goes through but no
voice.The only firewall i have on is the windows one
tried without still same.Very puzzled please any info for
help what i can try will be grateful thanks.

You are not alone! Check the multidinous postings on this news group!

I assume you are behind a NAT enabled router? If so, the usual things
apply:

- It needs to be UPNP
- The UPNPPort on the router needs to be above 1000 (say, 2000) as XP won't
recognise it otherwise
- No XP firewall
- Must install XP's UPNP / IGD components
- Check on Messenger / Tools menu / Options / Connection tab - what kind of
connection does it report?

However, you can do all this and it probably still won't work! Or at least,
not for me and numerous others. (I am using a Solwise 715 NAT/UPNP router)

My advice is to check out Yahoo Messenger, which does voice just fine, 100%
of the time, for everyone I know. If more people defect to Yahoo then maybe
Microsoft will address the Messenger issues more seriously.
