Default Windows XP email notification

If I disable windows messenger, will it stop giving me
email notification on the Welcome screen for XP?

Also, how can I get the notifications to show up under the
right 'owner'. Right now all the notifications show up
under the one person. Do I need separate windows
messenger ID and passwords?

Default Re: Windows XP email notification

Greetings Lisa,

The email notification will still be there if you disable Windows Messenger. To remove it,
download the TweakUI powertoy:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/...s/powertoys.asp (see on the right).

After you have TweakUI installed, click Start, All Programs, Powertoys for Windows XP, and
choose TweakUI for Windows XP. In the TweakUI window, on the left, click the '+' next to
Logon, and choose Unread Mail. Uncheck 'Show unread mail on Welcome screen' and click OK.

The e-mail notifications are primarily based on whatever Messenger uses have signed in under
one particular XP account. For example, if on one Windows XP account, two Messenger users
have signed in, one with 3 e-mails, the other with 5, the welcome screen will show the
Windows XP account with 8 e-mails (if you click the X unread e-mail messages on the welcome
screen, it will break it down by Windows XP account).
