Default MSN Vs windows messenger

Hi Jonathan,
Until now I had windows .I downloaded MSN.
Now I have both on the taskbar+msn explorer on the
start>progams.
Just wanted to know do I need both? are they different in
Functionality??
DO I need the windows as well as MSN explorer??

How do I remove MSN messenger+explorer?

I have used windows messenger basically for chatting and
nothing else.

Greetings AFD,

MSN Explorer and Windows Messenger come with Windows XP -- MSN Explorer is a MSN-oriented web
browser and Windows Messenger is an instant messenger (as you I'm sure are aware).

MSN Messenger is another instant messenger client which runs on the same network as Windows
Messenger (the .NET Messenger network), it has a few different features, and which one you
use is your own personal preference. However, although you can force Windows Messenger to
uninstall, it's recommended that you don't, because if Windows Messenger is removed, some
functions in Windows itself and MSN Messenger won't work, like Remote Assistance, Whiteboard
and Application Sharing.

As well, MSN Explorer is also part of Windows (like Windows Messenger), and there is no
uninstallation procedure to remove it (just don't use it).

Johnathan, MSN Explorer can be removed by going to Add or Remove Programs and clicking the Windows
Components button.

Hi AFD,

Windows XP does not come with MSN Messenger -- it comes with Windows Messenger. Although I
haven't seen this, it's possible some OEM (or wherever you got your PC) removed the shortcut
for it.
