No audio or video

We both have XP, both using Windows messenger newest
version and cannot get to connect to either see or view
each other.

What do you mean by Windows messenger's newest version . If what you are
using is MSN messenger 6 it is a separate program than Windows messenger
(latest version 4.7) and the solutions to you problems are different .
Please specify.
