Before the installation of SP2 it was possible to NBTSTAT XP PCs and
retrieve the logged on user id. After installing SP2 the logged on user id is no longer returned. This problem is sometimes resolved by setting up the "Messenger" service so that it automatically starts, I believe SP2 disabled it. What can be done on PCs that have SP2 & the "Messenger" service running but still do not return the logged on user after running NBTSTAT? What else does the installation of SP2 do to affect the PC in this way? Any help on this is welcome Simon W. |

Hi, If all you want is to retrieve the logged on user id, here is a couple of other alternatives (VBScript examples): http://groups.google.com/groups?sel...FTNGP10.phx.gbl http://groups.google.com/groups?sel...FTNGP15.phx.gbl -- torgeir, Microsoft MVP Scripting and WMI, Porsgrunn Norway Administration scripting examples and an ONLINE version of the 1328 page Scripting Guide: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sc...er/default.mspx |
