Default clean XP install

I have XP-pro installed on my laptop with an OEM product key, however I do
not have the OEM XP disks. I want to reinstall XP as the laptop is severly
infected and slow. Please advise if I can borrow XP-Pro disks from a friend
and activate with the OEM key on the label.

You'll have to contact the manufacturer of your laptop
and request a restore or reinstallation CD. Your OEM
Product Key will only work with the manufacturer's prescribed
Windows XP restore method.

Do you mean that XP Pro came pre-installed by the OEM?
Do nothing until you talk to the system manufacturer tech support!
They probably have a procedure for formatting / clean installing
XP Pro back to factory settings, without using a CD.
All data should be backed up to external media first.
Programs will have to be reinstalled.
