Default xp desktop displays but not the icons, no task bar or windows key

Computer had viruses, removed the virus now windows
starts to the point that the desktop background displays
but thats it. A ctrl/atl/del will bring up task manager,
and you can run a program from task manager. What dll
or ?? is windows xp missing?

thanks
