Default power managment problems

I was forced to install windows XP professional in standard PC mode. Reason
was that i had problems with one PCI card that BIOS refused to aassign IRQ
to. After installing windows in standard pc mode everything is ok, card is up
and running but now i have APM problems. When i activated APM, "When i press
the power button" and "When i press the sleep button" didn't show in options
window.
How can i solve this problem? Is there any way to reinstall or upgrade APM
support without new installation of complete windows?
