installed WinXP Pro with SP2. No longer get sound. Sound card is a Creative
Labs Sound Blaster Live Value on a Gateway P1.8GHz. Gateway has posted a fix, but it is an older driver than the version with XP, and I can't uninstall the newer XP version to reinstall the old version. I have tried installing the older driver, but WinXP tells me that it already has the latest driver (thanks, but it doesn't work!) and will not install the older version. If i try to uninstall the newer XP driver, on reboot, WinXP promptly reinstalls the latest driver, which does not work. How can i get rid of or prevent the newer XP driver from installing so that i can install an older driver that does work? TYVM. |

have you went to the divice manager deleted the sound
card and then let xp refined it. I had a yellow question mark on one of my sound items under divice manager and I just deleted it and let xp refined it and had sound. >-----Original Message----- >installed WinXP Pro with SP2. would System Properties, Device Manager, properties of the soundcard, Driver
tab, "Rollback driver" be a possibility?
