Yes - try a Bart WinXP PE disk (www.bootdisk.com).

in the 31/2 drive then go directly to help and
support. You can find this by going to the start button on
your taskbar then navigating to help and support. You
will then look for the search text box and type in help?
no I am just kidding you can type in boot disk and get
all the help you need.

Tim,

you can make one yourself by following the advice in
http://www.michna.com/kb/WxMove.htm.

I just hope you're not mistakenly believing you could boot an
entire operating system worth several hundred MB from floppy
disks.

Thanks all for you help and humor. . I'm self taught, but do know

xp with sp2. Thanks again.

You need to copy these files to a formatted floppy: boot.ini, ntdetect.com and ntldr. With this disk you can boot XP (provided that hal.dll is still good) see "Use System Files to Create a Boot Disk to Guard Against Being Unable to Start Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q314079".

The MS-DOS disk described by others boots to DOS from WINME and that doesn't see NTFS files. It is a good disk for flashing the BIOS and not much else.

Thanks, makes sense. What would happen if I just put those files on a
98 setup diskette? Throw a hal.dll on there too. I've got enough
information to keep me busy.
Thanks

Putting these files on a Win9x-formatted floppy disk will not work,
because the disk lacks the WinXP boot sector that invokes
a:\ntldr and/or a:\ntdetect.com. Why don't you try it for yourself?

I'm sorry for asking too many questions without being educated about
what it is I'm even asking. I was just originally wondering if there
was a newer setup floppy similar to 98. Not for any particular
reason. I'll try to get more info on my own.
Thanks
Tim

Tim,

ah, if it's a setup floppy you're after, that's available, but
according to Microsoft you need five. You need those when your
computer cannot boot from the CD-ROM drive.

Now for the source. You could try www.bootdisk.com, but they're
also available from Microsoft. I just don't have the link on
hand.

It seems that www.bootdisk.com has a one diskette solution, but
I didn't look long enough.
