Error Messages in Windows XP Upgrade

I've updated the BIOS and tried to install Windows XP upgrade from Windows
98. I keep getting two error messages:
--Setup cannot copy D:\I386\mfc42.dll to C:\WINDOWS\setup\mfc42.dll
--Setup cannot copy D:\I386\migisol.dll to C:\WINDOWS\setup\migisol.dll

Could these errors be preventing me from successfully installing XP? What
can I do to correct these errors?
