Default Installing WinXP Pro (non-SP1) on SATA

I have WinXP Pro (non-ServicePack 1) and I am needing to
install on my new system. Unfortunately, it seems that
it doesn't recognize a Serial ATA hard drive. Is there
any way around this?

My only other option is a 200GB IDE hard drive, but I
have been informed that WinXP non-SP1 does not recognize
the large drive volume hard drives either.

Please help!

It's easy to make a SP1 slipstreamed version of Windows XP.
I would suggest doing so in order to avoid installation issues.

I haven't read a whole lot about SATA drives, and I honestly have very
little experience with them, but my experience so far has been that no
version of Windows natively supports SATA drives yet.

On the system I installed Windows XP on with a SATA drive, I had to provide
a floppy disk with the SATA driver after we booted to the XP CD-ROM. After
that, things worked just fine.
