Default XP Pro Setup Error "SP1.cab."

Had to reformat HD and attempted to reinstall Win XP Pro
OEM CD. CD is not bootable so created boot disk (6
floppies)frpom MS Download site. During early stages of
Setup I get the following error message:

'The following value in the .SIF file used by Setup is
corrupted or missing:

"Value 0 on the line in section [SourceDisksFiles] with
key "SP1.cab."

Setup cannot continue'.

Grateful for any help on this one, many thanks

Gerard

Hello
You will need to go to the BIOS and change to boot order to where the ROM
drive boots before the HDD, all Windows OS cd's are bootable, OEM & Restore
cd's included.
http://www.winsupersite.com/showcas...xp_sg_clean.asp

A cd containing SP1 is not required for installation.

Be sure to visit Windows Update Site and download all the updates, this is
for your security and safety.

Hi Haus,

Thanks for that. I think I've just about tried
everything. Partition has now been formatted using FDISK
Before that I tried PQMAGIC Version 8. I have been into
BIOS (Advanced CMOS)and changed boot order to CD Rom then
IDE 0. Boot error shows on startup when goes to CD Rom
but okay on IDE 0. Have received error messages:

1. Operating System is missing or
2. NTLDR missing.

I have tried to load NTLDR onto C:\ from CD X:\I386\NTLDR
by using DOS copy command and get error message. I have
loaded this XP Pro CD onto same PC previously and had no
problems. Pulling hair out here, what's left of it. Any
more ideas? Thanks

Gerard

Apparently, you inadvertently downloaded the wrong set of disks.

Obtaining Windows XP Setup Boot Disks
http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...4&Product=winxp

NOTE:

If you are planning to use the Windows XP setup disks,
make sure you downloaded the correct set of setup disks.

If your have a Windows XP CD with SP1, you need to download
the setup disks for use with the Windows XP SP1 installation CD.

If your Windows XP installation CD does not include SP1,
use the setup disks for the "original release" of Windows XP.
