Default VPN error 800

Hope someone can help and I don't know if this is the correct place to post
New Windows XP desktop with all critical/recommended updates installed. Member of an SBS network. This machine will not establish a VPN connection, no matter what. I have enabled proxy client, disabled it, changed authenications to various settings, reinstalled proxy client, checked event viewer, services and there is nothing that would cause the following error
Error 800. cannot establish a connection
Has anyone ran across this? Other people using windows XP o/s can establish a VPN connection within the domain. I'm at a lose. In fact 2 other users can connect to the exact VPN connection within the domain when this workstation just gives the error 800. Please help

Default Re: VPN error 800

Hi,

Got this from XP help and support.

The connection to the VPN server could not be established using either PPTP
or L2TP. One or more of the following circumstances might have caused this
error:

The PPTP server is not reachable. The server name you supplied might not
exist, or a network component (such as a firewall) might be blocking PPTP
traffic.

Verify whether the PPTP server name for this connection is correct.
Check whether Internet Connection Firewall has been enabled for this
connection.

The L2TP/IPSec server is not reachable. The server name you supplied might
not exist. Your connection configuration might prevent IPSec from
establishing a secure channel with the server. A network component such as
Network Address Translation (NAT) or a firewall might be blocking IPSec
traffic.

Verify whether the L2TP server name is correct and that the connection you
are trying to use has been configured correctly for your computer.

Verify whether you have a current machine certificate or that the
pre-shared key is correct. For more information, see Enable smart card or
other certificate authentication.
Check whether Internet Connection Firewall has been enabled for this
connection. .

More info....Type...Error 800 in the XP help and support center search

Hope this helps.
