Default Win 2000 & Win XP Pro OEM on same partition - PROBLEM

I installed Win XP Pro OEM on a Win 2000 machine thinking the Win 2000
install would upgrade to XP Pro - big mistake, both OSs on same
partition!
Now I would like to delete the Win XP Pro OEM install from the
partition. The XP OEM install hasn't beeen used. The procedure from
what I understand from previous posters is as follows:

1. Boot into Win 2000
2. Modify the boot.ini to remove the Win XP Pro OEM
3. Delete the Win XP Pro OEM install folder
4. Purchase an upgrade copy of Win XP Pro
5. Perform upgrade

Please advise if this is the correct procedure,

Many thanks

Sounds spot on. Until you do this you will no doubt have a Windows XP entry
in your boot.ini annoying you until the boot.ini is edited.
