I'm running XP Pro with a SATA RAID Stripe. About a month
and a half ago, after a year of flawless use, I recevd a CHKDSK on bootup. Was a bit nervous but didn't think much of it. I don't know if its related but have done EVERY update WinXP has asked for and on May 12th after doing a Sec Update and downloading the Baseline Security Profiler, before the XP splash, I recvd a message saying my "pci.sys" was missing from "system32\drivers" or it was corrupted. It recommended an XP recovery Console session. I tried this and it copied over the files it needed and now when I boot, I get the splash and then I receieve an error: (I wrote it down verbatim, but goes something like) STOP. {Fatal System Error} Session Manager Initialization process terminated unexpetedly. The system was shut down. I have a copy of ERD Commmander 2003 and have done three restores to different dates but to no avail. Unless I boot to ERD, my machine is stuck in an endless loop of boot and crash. ERD is saying it can't find the network adapter, otherwise, I'd shuffle my files off to my laptop and start from scratch. Apologize for the long winded explanation but wanted to do my due diligence before asking for anyone's help. Anything would be appreciated. Thanks very much, Dave |
