Default Problem with installinf SP 1 for Win Xp Pro

Hi folks,

I have recently reinstaled XP Professional as i installed
a new motherboard and chipset. I am now trying to re-
install all the service packs and updates.

When i try to install Service Pack 1 it will get so fat
and then give me the following error message....

----------------------------------------------------------
The file c:\windows\system32\drivers\atapi.sys is open or
in use by another application.

Please close all applications and retry
----------------------------------------------------------

I have no idea what application could be causing this
error, and it seems to me that it is something to do with
an IDE device...but then i dont know much.

Please could someone help me sort this out, as I really
need to install SP1 to be ble to install other security
updates etc.

ALL help much appreciated,

regards

Nick Butler

Hi Nick,

do you have a cd-emulator (like daemon-tools) installed ?
I needed to uninstall it to get sp1 running.
