Not sure whether this should be under the Windows Applications Forum or Digital Imaging and Photography, but here goes:
I have been trying to compress a load of jpeg photos totalling around 70mb so I can email them, however even when using WinZip or WinRar the file size only shows a slight reduction to just under 70mb - what am I doing wrong? The image dimensions are 2240 x 1680 and most are around 1.75mb each. Any help would be appreciated ![]() |

Images hardly compress under zipping I'm afraid, as JPEGs are already a compressed format. If you want to reduce the file size you'll have to load each file up and either resize it or increase the JPEG compression.
Resizing to 1024x768 will massively reduce the file sizes (to around 500k).

For simple resizing job IrfanView is an excellent choice
