Default stop error 0x0000008E with win2k.sys

We are having issues with our Dell laptop. The blue
screen started and has consistently stopped us with
various messages. WE sent it to Dell who replaced the
board and updated the BIOS but it is still giving the
blue screen. System down--Any advice would be helpful....

i had that message and used the recovery console which
seems to have sorted it out. boot up with the XP disc in
the drive and then choose Recovery Console. you can copy
the files by typing COPY d:\I386\win32k.sys
c:\windows\system32\win32k.sys you might want to backup
the file first though
