I have a 400 MHZ intel celeron processor with 128 MB RAM. It has
windows Me instlaled in one of the hard drives. I tried to install Windows XP in another hard drive as a new installation. The installation hands when isntlaling devices. I checked the log file to find this... In SETUPLOG.TXT 09/17/2003 17:59:43,d:\xpclient\base\ntsetup\syssetup\syspnp.c,2901,,SETUP: Index = 32, DeviceId = ACPI\PNP0800\4&2658d0a0&0 09/17/2003 17:59:43,d:\xpclient\base\ntsetup\syssetup\syspnp.c,2922,BEGIN_SECTION, 09/17/2003 17:59:43,d:\xpclient\base\ntsetup\syssetup\syspnp.c,2979,,SETUP: Device was NOT installed via answer file driver In SETUPAPI>LOG #I121 Device install of "ISAPNP\READDATAPORT\0" finished successfully. [2003/09/17 17:59:43 264.1019 Driver Install] #-019 Searching for hardware ID(s): acpi\pnp0800,*pnp0800 #-199 Executing "D:\WINDOWS\system32\setup.exe" with command line: setup -newsetup #I022 Found "*PNP0800" in D:\WINDOWS\inf\machine.inf; Device: "System speaker"; Driver: "System speaker"; Provider: "Microsoft"; Mfg: "(Standard system devices)"; Section name: "NO_DRV_X". #I023 Actual install section: [NO_DRV_X]. Rank: 0x00000001. Effective driver date: 07/01/2001. From this I am thinking it is some hardware conflict with the system speakers. I do not know how to resolve this problem. Please help. Thank You! |

I have exactly the same problem, with XP Home OR XP Pro,
the installation hangs at the device installation stage (34 mins left). If you do find out the problem please let me know how to resolve.
