I'm not sure if there is a "correct" way to to it, but I always make my
boot partition FAT32. Then after installing XP I make a NTFS and
compressed NTFS partition.

Hello,

You can install the HCT on NTFS or FAT32 partitions; it does not matter.
However, the Storage HCT category might have some specific requirements for
storage device testing.

If you have a drive imaging program on your test system, it might be easier
use FAT32 instead. Some drive imaging or partition imaging programs do not
support NTFS very well. When something goes wrong on your test system, it
is much easier to reinstall a drive imaging of your test system than to
reinstall Windows and all your test tools from scratch every time.
