Default CD burn on part used

Can I record on an unused part of a CD-R ? I have burned on about half of it
but when I try to burn on the remainder I keep getting "insert blank CD"

Yes, if the CD-R was not finalised, in other words you recorded on it as
part of a multi-session.

No, if you finalised the CD-R after burning, ie didn't choose the
multi-session option.
