Default Buffer Underrun

okay, I'm using Nero and I have an external CD burner.

whenever I burn discs, buffer underrun protection always comes up. some CDs
come out right, but it tends to take 30 to 40 minutes. I recently installed a
new harddrive, but prior to this I was using the external burner and it
burned full 700mb discs in 3 or 5 minutes.

I have looked on multiple websites to solve this. All are suggesting me to
not open any programs and that I may not have enough disk space. Well, I have
around 110gigs for free harddrive space, and I usually burn with no programs
running.

I updated the USB driver, even the IDE driver since someone said something
about that. But yet, nothing. It was working perfectly fine. If anyone can
help, please do so. I would be forever grateful.

Thanks, but I have read those before. Still hasn't solved my problem.

Why did, at one point, my external burner burn full discs at 3/4 minutes,
and now it's taking ten times as much time? I just don't understand. I
probably have burned 20 or so CDs that were done in three minutes.

Default RE: Buffer Underrun

I gave up worrying about fixing what seems to be a "random" problem and just
went to 8x burn rather than 12x which seems to have made it go away. It
really doesnt take much longer.

One more thing, I also found out that if you reboot (not restart) first, and
then burn with a "clean" system the problem doesnt normally happen.
