'music mp3' download, where to go

I use windXP prof, and would like to download ' mp3 music' , but from
Microsoft. Which or where would be the best place to start from

Legal, downloadable music in the MP3 format is hard to find as it does not
support Digital Rights Management. Most online music store either sell AAC
(iTunes Music Store, RealPlayer Music Store) or WMA (Napster, Wal-Mart). You
can, however burn these tracks to a disc and then convert them to MP3 if that is
the only format your player will support.

There are specialist download sites that use MP3s, and you still pay, but
generally, all the music companies hate the MP3 format. Here's a list of
