Default NO sound from the speakers

Brand new installation on WinXP Prof. on my existing computer.
I had WinXP home, I formatted the HD and installed a brand new version of
Win XP Professional. ervything works fine except the speakers.

I've re-installed the Sound card drivers and went thru the Troubleshooting
process available on the Help and Support section, I still don't get to hear
the sound from the speakers. Any other troubleshoot processes you might
suggest?

Default RE: NO sound from the speakers

Check that the speakers are plugged in to the proper jack on the soundcard
and not the mike jack. Also rightclick on the sound icon (next to clock),
Adjust Audio Properties and checked that the sound is not muted. Then,
you can also troubleshoot and advanced settings.
