When I open a folder containing music files in Windows
XP, there is a link at the side which says "Play All". If I click on this it should open up Media Player and play all the music files in the folder. It used to work, but now nothing happens. Nothing also happens if I select some files and then click on "Play Selection". I can still double click an individual file and it will play okay. It's the same for all music folders, not just one. I guess I must have changed a setting somewhere, but I don't know what. Any ideas? |

I had the same annoying problem with Music Tasks > Play
All not working and also posted this problem to this list on 20 October. After trying a dozen different things-- including uninstalling and reinstalling RealPlayer and QuickTime (making sure neither was set to play mp3s), checking WMP properties, file associations, folder properties, the desktop.ini file for Music folders, stray registry entries (such as stray entries from an old WinAmp uninstall), etc I finally reinstalled WMP9 over top of last the install. YMMV but this worked for me. Play All once again works just fine. Only took me eight hours or so of fiddling around. Good luck. PL ps Don't have AVG antivirus either. At first suspected recent WMP hotfix (Windows Update) but think this problem came from duelling media players fighting over file associations due to not being configured properly when first installed... >-----Original Message----- >When I open a folder containing music files in Windows >XP, there is a link at the side which says "Play All". Still didn't work after you reinstalled WMP 9? That
should've reset all of the defaults. Do you have other media players or are you just using WMP 9? Have you used a registry cleaner such as jv16 lately? Stray entries (such as the old WinAmp key I mentioned) *might* also be conflicting. If your desktop.ini file isn't corrupted, I'm at a loss. As I mentioned, I thought it was a folder properties problem at first--not WMP...Frustrating, isn't it? But there *has* to be a solution. If you have any other questions or come up with a fix, please repost. Curious, PL ps Link below may help, especially re desktop.ini/Special Folders http://computers.douglasthrift.net/.../#faq3_my_music >-----Original Message----- >tried suggested fixes but i still can't seem to get the >play all option to work :\ > |
