Trying to get help for a friend who has this problem. If
anyone has any suggestions, please let me know..

Upon opening Dxdiag i get the error: Problem getting extra
sound info, result code = 0x8878000a (The request failed
because DirectSound resources, such as the priority level,
were already in use by another caller.)

I have tested all my sound devices and have run all the
diagnostic tests for my computer, I am running windows
version xp

I get the above... All my tests are fine and I hear
sound....all the devices are working properly, the comp
was working fine earlier today and I had sound. The
speakers work because I heard the sound when the tests
were ran and such

Im at a loss

any ideas?

don't know what kind of sound you have, if its ac-97. go
to the maker and download latest driver.

i'm getting 0x80040201 error code
talked too creative lab support and they said try down
loading a service pack 1. but it did not help
