Default movie make 2 outputs different DV than movie maker 1?

Using movie maker 1, I captured some video and tried to feed it through
Ulead DV converter 1.01 (dv1 to dv2 converter). It refused, saying the
source isn't dv 1.

Then I updated to movie maker 2.1 (from sp2). Captured some video and again
feed it through Ulead DV converter. This time, it finished the conversion
without complain.

Perhaps there's a bug in the conversion program in identifying the type of
DV. But the output from movie maker 1 and 2 are definitely different. Could
anyone shed some light on what the differences are?

BTW, the audio stream from movie maker 2 is 32000Hz whereas from movie maker
1 is 48000Hz. Why?
I selected DV-AVI in both cases. There appears to be no way to change the
audio sampling rate.

MM1 indeed exports in DV1 format which MM2 exports in DV type II.
