Default How do I split a movie file in two.

I have a movie file and was wondering how to split it into
two files to burn off onto two separate CD Rom disks. I
just want to put it on to a CD Rom to get it off my hard
drive but still save the movie to reload and watch on my
computer later. I know I can't play this movie CD Rom on
a DVD player and I don't want to. I just want to burn it
off onto a CD Rom but I can't seem to zip it small enough
to allow it to go on to a CD Rom. The file size of the
movie is 740,000Kb's and when I zip it, it ends up a
718,000Kb's size file. So I just would like to know how
to take a movie file and split it into two files. I have
Windows XP and the only movie player programs I have are
Windows Movie Maker 2.0 and Widows Media Player 9.0
Series. Thanks for any help you folks can give me. Just
so you know, I know my way around my computer, but I'm
stupid when it comes to computer terms. Thanks again for
any help you can give.

You need a program such as Tmpgenc, which will split into
2 MPEG files (when encoded as MPEG, you CAN play in most
DVD players) you could also use any video editing
program, such as Adobe Premiere, or Vegas Video
from the file size you stated I take it it is a Divx
movie? in that case you need to first encode it into MPEG.
Your best bet is Tmpgenc because it can do all the work
easily and does the best job

Try burning that 718,000Kb to a 700MB CD-R. It just might fit.

718,000KB = 701.2MB. Check it out: http://www.egret.net/kb__mb.htm

If it doesn't fit, use HJSplit to split and later re-join the file:

Ian.
