when i try to download an mp3 off a website, I can't
download the file as an mp3,but instead, it downloads as an mpeg file- everytime- I thought it had something to do w/ having real one player (since the icon next to the file name is the real one icon) but i don't think that's the case since i've deleted it and reinstalled. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? |

I always used to have that problem with IE 5.5. Which
version are you using? I always just renamed the file to .mp3, which works fine. >-----Original Message----- >when i try to download an mp3 off a website, I can't >download the file as an mp3,but instead, it downloads as >an mpeg file- everytime- I thought it had something to do >w/ having real one player (since the icon next to the file >name is the real one icon) but i don't think that's the >case since i've deleted it and reinstalled. Internet Explorer bases file extensions off of the value for Extension under that MIME type's registry key. Say- === HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\Content Type\audio/mp3 === for example. The easiest way to reset this is to go to WMP's Tools:Options:File Types menu and reassociate the files to WMP there. That'll reset the Extensions value back to the right one. -Zach -- (speaking for myself and doing this in my free time) See http://www.nwlink.com/~zachd/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
