Default putting music onto mp3 player from Win Media Pla

I copy my songs over to the removable disk drive but the
mp3 player will only hold 11 songs. i know that this
player is meant to hold a lot more than that. Is there
something I need to do with my files before i try to copy
them over, and if so how do i do it?

i feel like i should know how to do this

If you use windows media player to copy your mp3 make
sure it did not transform your mp3 files into audio files

Are you copying to a CD or a portable device? What's the name of the
removable device?
