If you burned your mp3 files to CD-R as a "data disk," meaning that the
files on the CD-R are still in mp3 format, just pop that CD into your CD-ROM, access that drive with Windows Explorer, and then drag & drop your mp3 files into a folder on your harddrive. It'll take a minute or two. If, on the other hand, you burned them to CD-R as an "audio disk," you'll have to use a CD-ripper like CDex to get the tunes off the CD. Regards, Ian. Thanks very much.Excellent it has worked well. The songs
were still mp3s. How do you people find out these things? It seems very difficult to actually get info from microsoft themselves. >-----Original Message----- >If you burned your mp3 files to CD-R as a "data disk," meaning that the >files on the CD-R are still in mp3 format, just pop that CD into your >CD-ROM, access that drive with Windows Explorer, and then drag & drop your >mp3 files into a folder on your harddrive. I was fortunate when I bought my first computer four years ago in that my smarter younger brother was already five years ahead of me in the great learning curve that is the PC. He was able to help me understand a lot of common tasks during my frequent phone calls to him during my first stressful six months as a dude with a Dell. Then, on one miraculous day while we were discussing various things we were trying to accomplish on our PC's, I was able to tell him how to do something that he didn't know- it was about mp3 track editing, as I recall. At that moment, I was able to give just a little back in return for all his helpfulness, and I have occasionally been able to do the same thing in the newsgroups, where I have met countless friendly and helpful individuals. So in answer to your question, what little I know has been learned from personal acquaintances and the internet. The newsgroups, well some of them anyway, can be a great source of info. And then there's Google. Almost any problem I'm having or question I have has already occurred to somebody else, and a Google search almost always points me in the right direction. Regards, Ian.
