>Hi Jerry

Lite-On, my drive mfgr, came through with the solution.
At least it works for me. They do mention you have to
switch back to digital for getting audio back out the back
of the machine, but for my setup it works in both places
now.

Best of luck

Lloyd.

The following is from an email response from Lite-On (USA)
Tech Support:

The front phonejack uses analog audio instead of digital
audio playback. All Windows 98 and later
version have digital audio playback as a default setting.
Below is the step-by-step how to disable
digital audio playback

1. You need to uncheck the digital audio playback under
the device manger of the CD-ROM
2. You need to uncheck the digital audio playback under
the Windows Media Player, select Tools,
Options, CD Audio,

Remember, if you are using the audio card audio playback
at the back of the PC, you need to select
digital audio.
