Placebo has wrecked my sound

Hi,while playing the new Placebo cd on my pc it launched
a player from the cd called ES but no other info. The
sound quality for any other CD'S is now very poor, skips,
pops etc. Uninstalling this player has made no difference.
Any ideas ?
