Battery Visualisation in Media Player

FOr some reason since I reinstalled media player 9, the
battery visualisations are very slow, but if I click on a
menu or toolbar, the visualisation goes back to normal
speed. If I click off the menu/toolbar it returns to the
slow speed - can anyone explain this?

All the others are OK, and I have plenty of memory and
precessor power.
