Hi all,
Is it possible to reformat and load XP using the WinXP CD? I am new to XP and have made lots of mess ups during the learning curve. I now wish to reload windows but on booting to the CD, the program detects That xp is already present on the disk and will not offer to delete it, as far as I can see. I can't use a floppy like I used to on the old machine cos this one has a SATA drive as the system disk and I haven't yet discovered how to make this drive visible to DOS. Many thanks. |

You select install to the same partition and then the
process will offer the option to delete the partition and format. -- The people think the Constitution protects their rights; But government sees it as an obstacle to be overcome. Thanks Guys. With my win98 head on, I was used to the old floppy trick, and I
did not fully understand the options: Repair or Reinstall over existing os. I just thought I wouldn't get the format option. Thanks once again! SATA drives have nothing to do with you not seeing the hard drive from the floppy, 98 boot floppys can't see NTFS drives. You boot from the CD and do a clean install. Click on or copy and paste the link below into your web browser address bar. Before you dump the OS on the SATA drive, make sure you have the proper SATA
drivers on a floppy as you will need them to install XP onto that SATA drive..
