Default Bios/CPU Upgrade

I upgraded my 1.7ghz P4 to a 2.4ghz P4. My BIOS showed I
had a 1.7ghz. I did a flash BIOS upgrade from the Dell
A06 to XP2. The BIOS still shows a 1.7ghz and there seems
to be no way of changing it. Windows and other test
software show a 2.4ghz. Can I change the BIOS setting or
does it really matter/affect anything?

Does your BIOS have an option to User Define the cpu? Try it if it's there.

Do you have the BIOS set for 133 MHz?

Joe,

This is a hardware issue unrelated to Windows XP.
Please contact Dell (your hardware vendor) for support on this matter.

Consult Dell for how to set the bios to your CPU upgrade. Hardware specific
not an XP issue.
You boot from the CD and do a clean install.
Click on or copy and paste the link below into your web browser address bar.

Sounds like someone played with their FSB and multiplier settings in the
bios (-:

Seeing as you have a hardware problem, take the computer to someone who
knows!
