A friend has an XP system and has the following problem.
As soon as the system starts up he gets an error window thrown up that is something like WS2_32.dll filename.exe cannot find entry point. filename seems to be a random name ending in a number and is different each time the system starts. It is found in the settings and config (?) directory and disappears from there if the process is terminated using Ctl+Alt+Del etc. Almost everything seems fine then except for DUN. It may or may not be related - but the DUN connection to Freenet has also stopped working. It dials, does not say verifying password etc but jumps straight to the bar and appears to be connected - however no data is transferred. Any suggestions - i.e. is this a known virus - or is there some other problem and this random file is actually part of the MS system. Thanks for any helpful comments |
