Dial up adapter not connecting to modem

I have been trying to connect to my ISP using a dail up
modem however evertime the wizard has completed the dial
up aplication the modem is indicated as not being active.
(It looks like the Dail up application does not talk to
the Device manager during the set up)

The modem has been installed and and is working correctly.
I have also tried two modems. I have configured the modem
on COM2 however the Dail up adapter shows a non working
device on COM1.

All updates have been down loaded as of 25JUL2003.

Any help would be appreciated.

Its because internets a big scam its impossible to set up
theres always the odd option set that comes on your isp
cd that recks the whole thing:'(
