All it shows is my user login. Thanks. |

In Windows XP Professional, press CTRL-ALT-DEL twice at the welcome screen,
and you'll be shown the "classic" login box. You can log in as Administrator there. In Windows XP Home Edition, you must start the computer in Safe Mode to be able to login as Administrator. If you'd like to add the Administrator account to the Welcome screen, follow the advice on Kelly's page: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_wel_screen.htm Keep in mind, though, that even if the Administrator account is displayed on the Welcome Screen, you must be running in Safe Mode to login as Administrator on Windows XP Home Edition. -- Mike Kolitz MCSE 2000 MS-MVP - Windows Setup and Deployment "Bill Heath" <oufan59@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:058301c34be5$705a35a0$a101280a@phx.gbl... > How do I get the Administrator login prompt available? > All it shows is my user login. > > Thanks. |

Symantec has a web page about how to start XP in Safe Mode:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...001060608000039 I'm not so sure that I agree with their "recommended" method, the Alternate method for single operating system computers is what I use, but whatever's easier... -- Mike Kolitz MCSE 2000 MS-MVP - Windows Setup and Deployment "Rockiebattles411" <rockiebatls411@aol.com> wrote in message news:00bb01c34c8e$9d44baa0$a501280a@phx.gbl... > > >-----Original Message----- > >In Windows XP Professional, press CTRL-ALT-DEL twice at > the welcome screen, > >and you'll be shown the "classic" login box. > >You can log in as Administrator there. > > > >In Windows XP Home Edition, you must start the computer > in Safe Mode to be > >able to login as Administrator. > > > >If you'd like to add the Administrator account to the > Welcome screen, follow > >the advice on Kelly's page: > >http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_wel_screen.htm > > > >Keep in mind, though, that even if the Administrator > account is displayed on > >the Welcome Screen, you must be running in Safe Mode to > login as > >Administrator on Windows XP Home Edition. > > > >-- > >Mike Kolitz MCSE 2000 > >MS-MVP - Windows Setup and Deployment > > > > > >"Bill Heath" <oufan59@hotmail.com> wrote in message > >news:058301c34be5$705a35a0$a101280a@phx.gbl... > >> How do I get the Administrator login prompt available? > >> All it shows is my user login. > >> > >> Thanks. > > > > > >. > >I was reading this post and just wondering how you boot > into safe mode, because there's no option for it that > comes up when I press F8 like there has been in older > versions of windows. > > Thanx : ) > > Rashid A.
