Meg cogitated deeply and scribbled thusly:
> I am trying to install Win98 2nd ed, but don't know how. I > don't have any OS on my computer, and the 98 disk doesn't > have any instructions. What do I type at the DOS prompt? This is actually a newsgroup for Windows XP not Windows 98, but here goes anyway..... Presumably when you switch on your PC you get a command prompt like this? C:> Can you then put in your CD and type (without the quotes) "cd D:/" If that works, you shouild then see D:> then type setup. If none of that works, you need to get a Win 98 Boot floppy. You can download one at http://www.bootdisk.com/ HTH -- (I may be wrong...I usually am....) Google is your Friend Email address deliberately false to avoid spam: www.gbpcomputing.co.uk |

I tried all the DOS prompts I remembered from the bad old days (setup, run, list, tree...), but NOTHING works. So do I have to download this boot floppy, install it, then install from the cd? Thanks very very much - I've been frustrated with this. >HTH > >-- >(I may be wrong...I usually am....) >Google is your Friend >Email address deliberately false to avoid spam: >www.gbpcomputing.co.uk > >. > |
