So, does anyone but us read these posts and help, or are
they just an exercise in futility? I am so frustrated with XP I'm ready to throw my computer out the window and it's brand new... If any of you happen to read this and have gotten help from MS that actually solved the problems you were having, would you let me know? Thank you in advance. Sincerely, Sharon |

I responded to one of your posts. You supplied very little information as to the specifics of the problem other then to say you have had problems with XP since you have received you new computer.Thats why they have warranties...so that people can take them back and get their problems fixed.By your post i take it you have an OEM version of XP which is warranteed only by the people you bought your computer from. And as such you did not even get an XP CD...just a recovery CD or ?? It seems to me that some people spent more time ordering their lunch then they do researching the Computer they are buying..no offense intended. I have been using XP for about 2 years now and have only run into one problem that I have not solved...yet.This news group has been helpful to me in the past and as such I try to be helpful in some small way to people who post here for assistance. You must remember that it is a public ..volunteer help..forum. peter "Sharon" <TillieInk@aol.com> wrote in message news:047f01c33ebf$093c5390$a101280a@phx.gbl... | So, does anyone but us read these posts and help, or are | they just an exercise in futility? Newsgroup help me a lot with XP I would say got my
training on XP from these people. Just what everybody said - you have to be articulate and concise in relating your problems if you want good advice and good results. Everybody in this group are very knowledgable. Mike >-----Original Message----- >So, does anyone but us read these posts and help, or are >they just an exercise in futility? >-----Original Message----- >So, does anyone but us read these posts and help Well, gosh, I was hoping so but it doesn't look good. I am having a problem locating the most current VM and was hoping for some help. Maybe they expect only the posters to help each other. Considering this are is "new users" I wonder how they could expect us to be of much help to each other. I have about had it with the entirety of MSN. I am sick to death of the problems. And they have the audacity to want to charge for a phone call for help!! After what this stuff costs to start with? Give me a break. It's a good thing for Bill Gates that I can't get my hands around his scrawny little neck. |

Hi Sharon,
I bought my very first computer this past January. One thing I've come to realize since then is that having a computer is time consuming work. The way computers are marketed you come to believe that all you have to do is turn it on and click away and that's it. Not so. To deal with problems you really must take the time to explore all that is in your computer and find out who it is you contact or turn to when problems arise with the different components and applications. You need to accept this reality or you're going to be a miserable user. I visit these newsgroups on a regular basis just to read the postings and solutions offered. I have learned a great deal about sites I can turn to for information and there are many! I have learned about security forums that not only offer help with spyware applications but also with general troubleshooting. These people will go out of their way to help you and if they can't will recommend where to go to. You must accept the fact that the people in these forums offer what help they can and they will let you know if they can't help and you must accept that fact, too. Then, you have to try another line of attack to deal with your problem. It really means time and effort on your part, but there is an upside...you really get to know your computer. I had to deal with an application that became unstable and the forums could offer no direct solution, but over a week I dug and dug here, there and everywhere. When, I had enough bits and pieces of information I sat down and planned all the steps I would take to solve this and I did it...I dealt with the problem myself and everything now works fine. I don't mean to preach, but this is my experience. My view is that I decided to get this tool and I had better learn how to deal with it when things go wrong. Good Luck, Sharon. S.N. Thank you in advance. >Sincerely, >Sharon This is a Peer-to-Peer support group. Ms has no official presence here, though a few MS employees volunteer their time and help out. All the help here comes from people just like you, except with more experience. As you learn more about XP and computers, you may also offer advice on troubles you have experienced. Many people have participated in these groups for years. And, are very knowledgable. But, No one knows the answer to every problem and either cant help you, or need time to research the problem for you. You also need to ask Clear, concise questions with details as to OS, Files involved, and any error messages you get David |
