Net Printing Problem

Recently installed DSL line in remote office of 8 users
mostly with Dell laptops. Network cables go into
appliance and appliance outputs to DSL and HP8000
printer. All 8 users are setup similarly with WinXP SP1.
Problem: all users except one can print to the networked
HP8000 printer. The one user who can't print can access
all other network resources, servers, etc.
Steps taken:
- rebuilt the WinXP laptop in question
- unable to ping the printer, but can ping other devices
from any office cable
- other computers on the same net cable work fine for
other users and also for the same user
- checked and re-checked all net settings (DHCP, WINS,
etc) that they matched other users
