HP Deskjet 1200c

We have been using this printer since we upgraded to XP -
no problems. Yesterday the printer stopped printing. we
have changed the toner cartridges and followed all
troubleshooting advice. It will print a test page but not
send documents to print. Error message but does not
specify which error.

Erm... laser printers use toner cartridges and inkjets use ink cartridges.
Putting toner in an inkjet printer won't do it any good whatsoever. (And
I'm wincing, just thinking of the mess you'll have to clear up) However I'm
presuming you mean you put in a new inkjet cartridge.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer.
